Storm Manja brings wet Sunday to Bavaria before milder week

Sunday 25th October 2026 on 14:01 in Bavaria

Bavaria, storms, weather

Storm Manja is bringing rain and strong winds to Bavaria on Sunday, with snow expected in the Alps, BR reports. The weather is forecast to turn milder and sunnier as the new week begins.

Rain, occasionally strong winds and isolated thunderstorms are possible across much of the state. Manja’s weather front is moving from northern Scotland towards south-west Norway and passing over Bavaria. During the afternoon and evening, rain is expected to retreat towards the Alps and southern Lower Bavaria, while skies begin to clear from the north-west.

Fresh south-westerly winds will bring strong to gale-force gusts in lowland areas, with gale-force or severe gale-force gusts in the mountains. Highs will range from 8C in the Fichtel Mountains to 15C in places near the Alps.

Conditions are expected to ease overnight into Monday, although a few showers may linger. Temperatures will fall to between 1C in some Alpine valleys and 7C in parts of Lower Franconia.

Monday will be mostly dry, with some cloud and more sunshine in the Alpine foothills. Highs will reach 9C to 14C. Tuesday is forecast to be the warmest day of the week, with sunshine in most places and temperatures averaging 15C. In the Allgäu, forecasters expect highs of up to 20C. Some showers are possible overnight into Wednesday.

In the mountains, Sunday will bring rain, poor visibility and severe gusts. The cable cars on the Ochsenkopf mountain in Upper Franconia will be closed as a precaution because of gusts near the summit. The Alpine Coaster, the mountain-cart track on the north side and the bike park on the south side will also be out of operation.
