Salzburg will close the Gaisberg road to cars from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday for a free walking and cycling event, ORF reports. The city is inviting participants to travel to the mountain from several starting points.
A group bike ride will leave Guggenthal at 10 a.m., while walkers will set off from Gnigler Park at the same time. People taking part independently can start from any of the event’s starting points until 1 p.m.
Children can join a shorter route from the Rauchenbühelhütte at 11 a.m. They will receive a puzzle pass for activities along the way, with a small reward waiting at the hut.
Bus 151 from Salzburg city to the Gaisberg summit will run every 20 minutes, using new electric buses operated by Albus. The event is part of the city’s “Bewegte Stadt” project. A “Bewegte Stadt” wristband will serve as a ticket for the bus and can be collected from 9 a.m. at Gnigler Park or Ludwig-Schmederer-Platz.
