Police arrest four men over shooting in Vienna
Four men have been arrested over the shooting and serious wounding of a 35-year-old man in Vienna, ORF reports. Police say the suspects allegedly robbed him in his apartment in Penzing on Monday.
The suspects, aged between 27 and 46, include two Russian nationals, one Syrian national and one stateless man, police said on Saturday. The victim told investigators that the men fled with a large amount of money. He and another person who was in the apartment followed them.
A physical confrontation broke out in the street, during which the suspects allegedly shot the 35-year-old, leaving him with serious injuries to his lower abdomen. Investigators from the Vienna State Criminal Police Office identified the men, who were previously unknown to the victim. Searches were carried out in five districts on prosecutors’ orders.
Police arrested the four men on Friday. They are suspected of involvement in drug dealing and largely admitted to the allegations during questioning, police said. The victim was also arrested after leaving hospital, on suspicion of drug dealing. He and the four suspects are to be taken to a custodial facility.
