Klanglicht’s light installations will be shown in Vienna for the first time, opening on Friday in the Schwarzenberggarten, a garden by Belvedere Palace, ORF reports. The exhibition features a large moon sculpture and wire animal figures.

A route across the garden’s four terraces leads visitors to light and sound artworks by Austrian and international artists. Hilde Dalik guides visitors by audio guide. The exhibition is curated by Birgit Lill-Schnabl, who also curates the installations of the same kind in Graz.

Georg Hoanzl, an initiator and owner of Theater im Park, said the aim was to create “a retreat in the middle of the city.” Theater im Park owner Michael Niavarani named the seven-metre-wide “Museum of the Moon” as one of his favourites. Created by British artist Luke Jerram, the illuminated sculpture uses NASA images to show the moon’s craters and mountains.

The garden will also feature small wire sculptures of domestic and wild animals, including chickens, foxes and a lion. Architect Katja Paternoster designed the figures to highlight the variety of animal life and how animals can be overlooked in cities.

Other works include “Flora,” an interactive sculpture by Philipp Artus that visitors can control with a touchpad, and “Nature Art” by Bart Ensing, who stretches wires between a tree and the ground to create a new space.

One of the final installations on the route is “Terre Roulante,” meaning “Rolling Earth,” by Vienna artist Miriam Hamann. The round, neon-lit work was inspired by an astronomical drawing by mathematician Sebastien Leclerc. Hamann said she wanted to connect science and art.

“Klanglicht im Park: The Sound of Light” runs from October 23, 2026, to January 10, 2027. It is open Monday to Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The exhibition has been shown in Graz since 2015.
