Susanne Schicker, a former president of Vienna’s City School Board, will become managing director of DDSG Blue Danube, ORF reported. She will take over from Wolfgang Fischer, who is retiring, in February 2027.
The company is jointly owned by Wien Holding and Verkehrsbüro. Johannes Kammerer will remain its second managing director. The appointment followed a selection process that drew 13 male and 11 female applicants, Wien Holding said.
DDSG Blue Danube operates a fleet of nine ships and offers scheduled and excursion trips on the Danube. Schicker most recently led the Science, Education, Culture and Tourism unit for the Otto Wagner site.
From 2018 to 2022, she was responsible for the leadership and overall coordination of the “Wien Beethoven 2020” annual festival. She led Vienna’s City School Board from 2001 to 2015, then under her former name, Brandsteidl.
