Knife attack seriously injures man in Vienna phone dispute
A 33-year-old man was seriously injured in a knife attack during a dispute in Vienna’s Favoriten district on Tuesday evening, ORF reported. The suspected attacker fled with two companions and remains at large.
Police said the confrontation, which took place on Favoritenstraße at about 8.45 p.m., appears to have stemmed from a long-running argument over a mobile phone. A 22-year-old who tried to intervene suffered an injury to a finger.
Officers from the Sibeliusstraße police station initially treated the 33-year-old before Vienna’s professional ambulance service took him to a hospital’s shock room. An immediate search for the suspect was unsuccessful.
Witnesses described the suspect as a man aged between 18 and 22, with curly hair, who was wearing black at the time. The State Criminal Police Office’s South branch is investigating and asked anyone with information to call 01-31310-57800. Tips can be provided anonymously.
