Innsbruck will turn Landhausplatz and Boznerplatz into seasonal ice rinks from November 12 to February 21, 2027, ORF reported. The plans call for a 2,000-square-metre rink at Landhausplatz and a 300-square-metre rink at Boznerplatz.
Admission is set at 12 euros for adults and six euros for children. The offer will also include food and drink, music, events and lighting displays. Organisers say activities will end by 9 p.m. each day, with noise levels adjusted to limit disruption to nearby residents.
The project is planned for at least five years. AWEO Austria, the event organiser, will invest about 1.38 million euros in initial costs, with an estimated further 2.3 million euros to be spent in coming years. Innsbruck will contribute about 150,000 euros, while tourism organisations and the province will provide another 225,000 euros. The remainder is expected to be recouped through ticket sales.
The two rinks will not be connected this winter, although Innsbruck Mayor Johannes Anzengruber said a link would be desirable in future years. Organisers say the project is intended for both residents and tourists and will involve local restaurants.
