WAC remain bottom of Austria’s football Bundesliga after a 0-2 home defeat to WSG Tirol, ORF Kärnten reported. The club have now lost five consecutive league matches, and disappointment and uncertainty are being felt internally, but no immediate consequences have been announced.

The team’s goal difference over the last five games is 2-15. Coach Thomas Silberberger led training in Wolfsberg on Monday, and the club made no further statements.

ORF sports reporter Hannes Orasche said the departures of players including Chibuike Nwaiwu, Thierno Ballo and Dejan Zukic, whose sales brought money into the club, may have left a bigger gap in the squad than expected. Alessandro Schöpf and, in particular, captain Dominik Baumgartner have also left.

Injuries have added to the challenge. Nicolas Wimmer, Otar Mamageishvili and Boris Matic are on the injury list, which has since grown to include Cheick Mamadou Diabaté, who fractured his scaphoid.

WAC travel to Hartberg on Saturday. Next week, they face a Cup round-of-16 match and a home game against Sturm.
