Upper Austria has released 850,000 euros for the Kasberg ski resort in Grünau im Almtal, with the funding intended to prepare for the 2026-27 winter season and finance operations this year, ORF reported.

The state government approved the funding at a meeting on Monday. Governor Thomas Stelzer said the resort was important to families, schools and clubs in the region. He said the aim was to secure operations while working on a long-term future for the resort.

The money is part of a funding framework of up to 10 million euros for 2026 to 2028, approved by the Upper Austrian state parliament. The framework also covers replacement investments and planning for a new snowmaking concept, which the state says is intended to help keep the resort economically viable over the long term.
