Zurich cantonal government member Natalie Rickli will not seek election to the Swiss Federal Council, SRF reports. The Swiss People’s Party politician plans to run for re-election to the cantonal government in April 2027.
“The canton of Zurich, as the largest canton, needs a stable government in these challenging times,” Rickli, who is nearly 50, wrote on Instagram.
Rickli has served in the cantonal government and led its health department since May 2019. In the spring, she said she would stand in next year’s cantonal elections and was not available as a candidate for the Council of States.
