A wheelchair user was injured in Villach on Sunday after falling headfirst about one metre down an embankment, ORF reported.
Villach’s main fire station and the Judendorf volunteer fire brigade were called to a property in Villach-Warmbad shortly after 1 p.m. Firefighters used a basket stretcher to bring the man to safety. The Red Cross then took him to Villach Hospital.
Five vehicles and about 22 emergency workers took part in the rescue. Separately, firefighters freed someone from a lift that had become stuck in a residential block and provided fire safety cover at an ice hockey game between VSV and HC Pustertal at Villach Stadthalle.
