A 37-year-old worker was seriously injured by a flash fire while carrying out hot-fogging work at a business, ORF reported. He suffered burns to his forearms and was taken to Vienna General Hospital.

The worker, from the Vöcklabruck district, was operating a fogging machine in a shaft about 1.5 metres deep. A 47-year-old colleague from the Urfahr-Umgebung district was in the hall above.

A flash fire broke out when the machine was being switched off. The cause was not immediately known, and an investigation is under way.
