After a lengthy pause, Fridays for Future held demonstrations for stronger climate protection in all nine Austrian federal states on Friday, with about 700 people taking part in Innsbruck, ORF reported.
The march began at 3 p.m. at Innsbruck’s Marktplatz, or Market Square, and passed through the city centre to Landhausplatz square. The demonstrators highlighted the effects of heat, droughts, wildfires and extreme weather, and called for binding climate measures.
“Especially after this summer, climate protection is extremely important to me. I think all governments are doing far too little, so we have to keep making that clear,” said Sophia Neuner, one of the protest’s organisers.
Traffic was disrupted around the march route.
