Lower Austria has launched an online map to help people find care training programmes near where they live. ORF reported that the guide covers around 2,300 training places across the state.

Users select their previous qualifications and can then explore different training options. A map shows where each programme is available. The choices include care assistance, social care diplomas and home help training.

The state developed the map over 18 months with publishing house Facultas, at a cost of 30,000 euros. It includes all schools offering relevant courses, including programmes at agricultural colleges that are specific to Lower Austria.

The guide also brings together information on financial support for trainees, including the care training premium, for which 49.1 million euros has been allocated since 2022, and the Lower Austria education voucher.

Lower Austria’s social affairs councillor, Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister, said interest in care training and the number of applications were rising. The map may be expanded to include training centres in neighbouring states near the Lower Austrian border, depending on user feedback.
