More than 100 companies and schools are presenting career and training options for young people at the BEST careers and education fair in Klagenfurt, ORF reported. The fair runs until Saturday and admission is free.

Katharina Krassnig of the Public Employment Service (AMS) said young people can speak with people from different industries and ask questions without pressure to make a lifelong decision. Employers are urgently seeking apprentices in tourism, metalworking, electrical work and trade, she said.

Traditional skilled trades are also gaining importance, Krassnig said. Companies at the fair are showing practical work as well as explaining the theory, and recognise that they need young people and future workers.

Artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in companies and attracting more young people to employers, Krassnig said. She added that businesses need expertise in AI and digitalisation as well as people with social skills.

The fair is being held from Thursday to Saturday in Hall 1 of the Klagenfurt exhibition centre.
