The Burgenland Tennis Association has unveiled a new youth development plan in partnership with the Thiem Academy, aiming to help more young players from the state reach the top, ORF reported.

The plan will create a training hub in each district for talented children under 10. Coaches at the hubs will learn from the Thiem Academy, a tennis academy in Oberpullendorf, and work to a common quality standard.

Dominic Thiem, a brand ambassador for the academy, said developing a broader pool of players would also bring more success. Burgenland regional councillor Heinrich Dorner of the Social Democratic Party said the plan would reach young talents and promising players.

The association will provide additional training for particularly talented players, who will be identified early through the academy’s scouting network. Academy director Wolfgang Thiem said the network would also benefit the academy. The goal is to have a player from Burgenland ranked among the top 10 in the Austrian Tennis Association rankings in every age group.

Fifty children across Burgenland will receive support when the plan begins.
