Lower Austria, police, road safety

A 33-year-old man fleeing police in Baden district rammed two patrol cars and crashed into a car driven by a 66-year-old woman before he was arrested, ORF reported.

The incident began early on Oct. 6, when officers from the Hirtenberg police station tried to stop him. The man, who did not have a valid driving licence, stopped but refused repeated orders to get out of a car belonging to a family member.

Police placed a patrol car across the road, but the man accelerated, hit the vehicle and a fence, then escaped through the gap. At a second roadblock in Hirtenberg, he rammed another patrol car.

In the Leobersdorf area, he then collided with the 66-year-old woman’s car. She was treated by emergency responders. The man resisted arrest, but no officers were injured. He was taken to Wiener Neustadt prison.
