35-year-old dies after falling into construction pit

A 35-year-old man died after falling into a construction pit following a festival in Lichtenegg, in the Wiener Neustadt district, ORF reported.

Police said the man, who was from the area, probably left the event in the early hours of Sunday, between 3am and 5am. The construction site was diagonally opposite the festival grounds and enclosed by a wooden barrier. He is believed to have fallen about three metres with the barrier onto the concrete floor of an unfinished building.

Property owners found him around midday on Sunday. A doctor aboard the Christophorus 3 rescue helicopter confirmed his death.
