Graz Marathon sets records and delivers economic boost
The 33rd Graz Marathon set new records for participants and spectators, bringing economic and tourism benefits to the city, ORF reported.
A total of 15,000 people took part. The event generated an estimated 6.6 million euros in economic value and more than 1,000 overnight stays, according to Graz sports councillor Kurt Hohensinner.
Bianca Ederer, from Puch, won the women’s race, while Felix Geieregger, from Voitsberg, won the men’s half-marathon. Julia Mayer also set a new Austrian half-marathon record.
About 800 participants joined the first Area-South Marathon, a new format linking the half-marathons in Graz and Klagenfurt via the Koralmbahn railway connection.
