Young man loses five-figure sum in love scam

A 21-year-old man from Flachgau lost a low five-figure euro sum in a love scam, ORF reported. Over more than a year, he sent money more than 50 times to 11 different recipient accounts.

The man met the people on a social media platform in September 2025. They repeatedly asked him for money, citing financial difficulties and the cost of meeting in person.

After receiving the transfers, the unknown individuals cut off contact. Police are investigating to identify those responsible and clarify the case.
