Police have received nearly a dozen tips after at least two masked people robbed an elderly couple at their home in Bad Bleiberg in broad daylight on Thursday, ORF reported.

Investigators are working through the leads and hope to identify the suspects’ getaway car. Police have not yet established its make, model or registration number, the State Criminal Investigation Office said.

The robbery took place at about 2 p.m. The suspects allegedly used force and threats to make the 78-year-old homeowner search the house with them for valuables. A knife believed to have been used in the attack was recovered at the scene and is being examined for evidence.

The homeowner was treated at Villach Hospital. Police were able to speak with him briefly, but his condition has not yet yielded further leads. His care-dependent partner and a 67-year-old caregiver were also in the house. The caregiver appears to have been attacked, but neither woman was injured.
