Police find missing girl with mother near German-Dutch border

Police have found a girl who disappeared from a hospital in Lower Austria in August, together with her mother, ORF reported. The mother was arrested and the girl was placed in the care of a youth welfare office.

The pair were found near the border between Germany and the Netherlands. Police suspect the mother of child abduction and of mistreating and neglecting minors, younger people or people unable to defend themselves.

The 53-year-old mother has no current residence in Austria. The public prosecutor’s office in Krems an der Donau had issued a European arrest warrant.
