Telehandler overturns, trapping driver at construction site

A 19-tonne telehandler overturned at a power station construction site near Desselbrunn on Friday afternoon, trapping its driver in the cab, ORF reported. The 46-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

The Slovak crane operator was moving two heavy steel plates when the vehicle overturned for reasons that remain unknown, landing on the side of the cab. He was freed before three nearby fire brigades, police and emergency medical crews arrived.

Police said he sustained minor injuries to his head and hands. Recovering the telehandler proved difficult: firefighters used two cranes to right it after pumping out its operating fluids. The crews were able to leave almost five hours after the accident.
