A trailer carrying an Austrian military crane overturned on the A2 at the Guntramsdorf interchange in the Mödling district on Friday, causing a traffic jam of up to eight kilometres, ORF reported. No one was injured.
Shortly before 11 a.m., the military truck towing the trailer began to sway. The driver tried to brake and brought the truck to a stop, but the trailer and its crane load overturned, police said.
Fire crews from Traiskirchen, Traiskirchen-Stadt and Mödling worked for several hours to recover the 16-tonne crane. Mödling’s fire brigade called in another crane truck to move the military vehicle.
One lane of the A2 towards Vienna remained closed until shortly after 5:30 p.m.
