A driverless tractor rolled into a family home in Großraming, in the Steyr-Land district, on Thursday, destroying a child’s bedroom. No one was injured, ORF reported.
Police said a 77-year-old man had spent the day working in his forest. In the afternoon, he was pulling a felled tree downhill with his tractor when the winch chain broke. The tree became wedged beneath the tractor, tilting it, and the man got out to inspect the situation. The tractor then began to move.
It rolled about 200 metres down a meadow before hitting the wall of a detached house above Lehnersiedlung. All the residents were at home at the time, but no one was hurt. The impact destroyed a child’s bedroom.
Volunteer firefighters from Großraming helped with the clean-up and secured the scene.
