A Legionella outbreak in the Linz area has been declared over after a fourth patient died, ORF reported. Authorities said no new cases had been recorded since early September.
A total of 36 cases were linked to the outbreak, which came to light in summer 2026. The four most recently identified patients did not live in Linz city but were included because of a possible connection to the outbreak.
The patient who died this week became ill in early August and spent an extended period in intensive care. More than 280 samples have been tested as part of the investigation into the possible source. Health authorities and the Agency for Health and Food Safety, known as AGES, were among those involved.
