Police stopped a lorry carrying wooden boards in western Styria after finding 54 defects, ORF reported. The 61-year-old driver was barred from continuing his journey.
Officers from Deutschlandsberg police station noticed the vehicle during a patrol in St. Marein im Sulmtal on Tuesday afternoon. They found that the hydraulic support for the truck-mounted crane was in such poor condition that it risked breaking, according to police.
Officers also found problems with the brakes and an engine oil leak. The driver had also breached rules on driving and rest times. Police removed the vehicle’s number plates and registration certificate.
