Salzburg police have stopped five drivers suspected of driving under the influence of drugs and a heavily intoxicated truck driver since Monday, ORF reported. All six men had their driving licences taken away and were reported to authorities.
At about 9 a.m. on Tuesday, a woman alerted police in Puch in the Tennengau district after a delivery driver appeared very drunk. Officers stopped the 48-year-old truck driver, who is from Hallein, and recorded an alcohol-test result of nearly three per mille. They barred him from driving on and took his licence.
On Monday, police caught three drivers who tested positive for cannabis during traffic checks in the city of Salzburg, Eugendorf and Seekirchen, both in the Flachgau district. They were a 25-year-old Romanian car driver, a 26-year-old Turkish man riding an unregistered electric moped and a 33-year-old Salzburg car driver.
A 32-year-old man from Flachgau was found driving under the influence of cocaine on Monday afternoon. A drug test on a 47-year-old Salzburg car driver indicated cannabis and amphetamine use. Police took the licences of all five drivers, reported them and prohibited them from continuing their journeys.
