Red Bull Salzburg captain Thomas Raffl out for weeks after surgery

Red Bull Salzburg captain Thomas Raffl will miss several weeks after undergoing surgery for an upper-body injury, ORF reported on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old forward will also miss Wednesday’s home Champions Hockey League game against Eisbären Berlin. The exact nature of his injury has not been disclosed.

Raffl was injured shortly before a game in Vorarlberg last Friday. He had also been sidelined in late August, returned to action on September 18 and then missed the team’s last two games.

Forward Florian Baltram will also be unavailable on Wednesday as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
