ÖBB is accelerating plans to lease two retail units at the new Weststeiermark station on the Koralmbahn railway line, ORF reports. The fit-out is due to be completed by the end of the year.
The units measure 230 and 130 square metres and have not yet been fully fitted out. ÖBB spokeswoman Rosanna Zernatto-Peschel said the railway company plans to install utility connections and prepare the flooring so businesses can use the spaces immediately and invest less before moving in.
ÖBB said prospective tenants have already shown interest, but it is withholding details while discussions continue for reasons of confidentiality. The company is particularly seeking a local convenience store, an offer also supported by the municipality of Groß St. Florian.
The station’s park-and-ride facility is well used. ÖBB expects use of the Koralmbahn to increase in coming years, which could further raise the station’s importance. The work is not expected to disrupt passengers.
