Bregenz City Tunnel closes for emergency-response drill

Bregenz’s City Tunnel will be closed in both directions from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday for an emergency-response exercise, ORF Vorarlberg reported. Traffic will be diverted through the city.

The exercise will involve the motorway police, the Red Cross and the Bregenz-Rieden and Bregenz-Vorkloster fire brigades. They will simulate a tunnel fire and practise emergency procedures and coordination. Such exercises are required by law and take place regularly.

The city also announced full overnight closures for maintenance and cleaning on October 1, 7 and 21, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day.
