Toddler suffers severe scalds after tipping over kettle

A one-and-a-half-year-old girl suffered severe scalds in an accident at an apartment building in Mariazell on Sunday, ORF reported. About seven per cent of her body was affected, police said.

The Red Cross Mariazellerland said the accident happened at about 1 p.m. A kettle containing hot water was on a table when the child tipped it over, spilling water on both her thighs and her abdomen.

The girl suffered first- and second-degree burns. A C-15 rescue helicopter flew her to hospital in St Pölten, where her condition was stable, according to the hospital.
