Three nature parks in three federal states are working together to protect and restore species-rich cultural landscapes through a project called ReNature hoch 3, ORF reports.
The Rosalia-Kogelberg, Jauerling-Wachau and Südoststeiermark nature parks are pooling their experience and developing conservation measures. The project focuses on practical habitat protection, improving links between habitats, and working with farmers, municipalities and other regional partners.
Climate change and the growing risk of drought are putting increasing pressure on meadows, pastures and orchards, making their conservation more challenging.
“The challenges in our regions differ in some respects, but we also share many issues. We can learn from one another, share experience and develop solutions together,” said Marlene Hrabanek-Bunyai, managing director of Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park.
The multi-year project is funded by the federal government, the state and the European Union. Rosalia-Kogelberg Nature Park has around 190,000 euros available for its work.
