Nico Wiener takes 3D world title and individual silver

Archer Nico Wiener won gold in the mixed event and silver individually at the 3D World Championships in Yankton, United States, ORF reported. The results gave the athlete from Schreibersdorf his 11th and 12th World Championship medals and his fifth world title.

Wiener and his partner, Salzburg’s Ingrid Ronacher, reached the mixed final and beat France by 10 rings.

In the individual event, Wiener advanced to the semi-final, where he edged Italy’s Michea Godano by one ring. Strong winds affected both finalists, but Slovenia’s Tim Jevsnik won 84-75.

“After demanding weeks, I can be very satisfied with two World Championship medals following my victory at the World Cup final in Mexico,” Wiener said. He is due to travel to India in a few days for the Archery Premier League.
