One of Vienna’s 180 sirens failed during a test on Saturday, while other warning channels worked without problems, ORF reported.
The test ran from noon to 12.45pm and sounded four civil protection signals: a 15-second steady tone for the siren test, a three-minute steady tone for a warning, a one-minute rising and falling tone for an alarm, and a one-minute steady tone for an all-clear. City departments checked the sirens’ technical condition and audibility.
Other warning channels were tested as well. AT-ALERT was activated by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the federal states. In Vienna, digital posters operated by Gewista and the warning channel on DAB+ radio were also tested. The city said both worked without problems.
