Embers reignite after Obsteig row-house fire
Embers reignited in a unit of a row-house complex in Obsteig, in the Imst district, early Saturday after a major fire, ORF Tirol reported. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and set up a fire watch. The cause of the blaze remains unclear.
Emergency crews responded at about 5.30 a.m. Fire commander Christian Weiss said an ember pocket had flared up again in one of the residential units. Firefighters used an aerial ladder to put it out, and planned to check the fire scene again later Saturday morning.
Fire investigators visited the scene on Friday. Four units in the complex are considered destroyed.
The original fire broke out at about 11.30 p.m. on Thursday. Residents left the buildings without assistance and were not injured. The Red Cross crisis intervention team supported them and monitored their medical condition. Firefighters battled the flames for about six hours using aerial ladders and heavy breathing apparatus.
