About 670 institutions open for ORF’s Long Night of Museums
About 670 museums, galleries and cultural institutions in Austria and parts of Slovenia, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Germany will open from 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturday for the ORF Long Night of Museums, ORF reported.
The event, which is marking its 25th year, offers visitors a chance to explore art, history and science. A standard ticket costs 19 euros and provides admission to all participating institutions. It also covers public transport in Vienna, all routes operated by Vorarlberg’s transport association and services run by Liechtensteinmobil. Reduced tickets cost 16 euros.
Regional tickets cost seven euros and cover museums in the region, generally those not served by shuttle buses. They are available in every Austrian state except Vienna. Children up to the age of 12 enter free.
Meeting points for visitors are set up in each state capital, with the exception of Vorarlberg, where the meeting point is in Dornbirn. Krems will have an additional meeting point, while Vienna’s is at Maria-Theresien-Platz. Tickets, information booklets and details of bus and walking routes will be available there.
About 270 museums across Austria will offer activities for children. Visitors can collect stamps in a children’s pass, with a small surprise gift available after three museum visits.
