Smoke prompts evacuation of Schwarzach primary school

A primary school in Schwarzach im Pongau was evacuated on Friday morning after smoke triggered a fire alarm in the building’s basement, ORF reported. No one was injured, and officials said there was no danger.

Teachers led pupils outside, where they gathered in front of the school. A kindergarten group inside the building for a performance was also taken to designated assembly points.

Firefighters from the Schwarzach volunteer fire brigade checked the basement with a thermal imaging camera. They found smoke but no fire. Pupils were able to return to their classrooms after about an hour. The cause of the smoke remains unclear.
