A car fire on the B19 in Tulln led police to report the 44-year-old driver for multiple offences, ORF reported. The man was uninjured.

Police said Friday that the Russian driver had been under the influence of alcohol and did not have a driving licence. The car was not registered for road use and had stolen number plates.

The fire is thought to have been caused by a technical fault. The driver parked the car in a field entrance beside the B19 and joined first responders in trying to extinguish the flames.

Police later secured the stolen plates, which are believed to have been taken in Vienna in mid-July 2025. The driver denied involvement in the theft.
