Four injured after 91-year-old drives into café terrace

A 91-year-old driver drove into an outdoor café seating area in Einsiedeln, injuring four guests, SRF reported. Police suspect she mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.

The crash happened on Thursday afternoon as the woman was reversing out of a parking space. Her car crossed the road and hit the café’s outdoor seating area opposite.

Emergency services took the four guests to hospital with unspecified injuries. The driver was unhurt and had to surrender her driving licence.

The crash occurred on the main road leading to Einsiedeln’s Klosterplatz.
