Two alcohol-related crashes injure scooter rider and damage car

Two heavily intoxicated road users were involved in serious crashes in Salzburg and St. Johann im Pongau, salzburg.ORF.at reported. A 45-year-old electric scooter rider was injured, while a car crash caused property damage.

The scooter rider fell in the south of Salzburg around midday on Monday. There was no indication that anyone else was involved. He suffered injuries of undetermined severity and was taken by the Red Cross to Salzburg University Hospital. His blood alcohol level was above 1 per mille.

At about 11.30 p.m., a 37-year-old driver from Pongau left the road while negotiating a right-hand bend on the Wagrainer Straße (B163) in the municipality of St. Johann im Pongau. His car hit two roadside delineator posts and scraped along an embankment. The crash triggered the vehicle’s automatic emergency call system, alerting police.

The driver’s blood alcohol level was just over 1.8 per mille. He had also been without a driving licence for more than a year.
