Police stop e-scooter rider twice after 1.86-per-mille test

Police stopped a 42-year-old woman riding an e-scooter while intoxicated in Wels on Monday, then stopped her again shortly afterwards. ORF reported that a breath test recorded 1.86 per mille.

A traffic patrol noticed the woman riding on a pavement. Officers barred her from continuing and tested the scooter on a rolling-road device because it appeared to have a more powerful motor. The test recorded a speed of 40 km/h, and police documented several defects.

Officers also noted signs of possible impairment by drugs and asked the woman to undergo a clinical examination. She refused. After the first stop, police informed her that she would face several reports. The same patrol later saw her riding the scooter again nearby and stopped her a second time. She will face multiple reports.
