Cyber incident exposes data of about 340 current and former SRF employees

Swiss broadcaster SRF reported that unauthorised people accessed data belonging to about 340 current and former employees. Its parent company, SRG, disabled the affected accounts and introduced additional security measures.

The records, dating from 2020, mainly concern staff in SRF’s Information unit. They include names, job functions and work contact details, as well as some private contact information. SRG said it had no indication that passwords, financial or bank details, journalistic sources, research data or communications were affected.

SRG said the incident was under control and that it had no evidence of further unauthorised access or of the data being published or misused. It is investigating with internal and external experts, has reported the incident and filed a criminal complaint. The affected employees have been informed directly.
