Driver trapped in reeds for six hours at Lake Neusiedl

A 69-year-old man was rescued after spending about six hours trapped in his car in the reeds at Lake Neusiedl, ORF reported. Police and firefighters searched for him overnight from Monday into Tuesday before finding him on Tuesday morning.
According to police, the man drove about 70 metres into the reeds after taking a wrong turn. It remains unclear why he left the road. He apparently could not free himself from the car and did not have his mobile phone with him.
He tried to attract the attention of other drivers by sounding his horn, but no one noticed him. After about six hours, he remembered that the car was equipped with an emergency call system and used it to contact police at around 3 a.m.
A drone located him shortly afterwards. The man was freed and taken to hospital for medical assessment.
