Driver in life-threatening condition after car hits aircraft at Munich Airport

The driver of a cleaning company vehicle is in life-threatening condition after his car collided with an aircraft at Munich Airport, BR reported. The crash caused damage estimated at several million euros.

The 32-year-old man’s condition remains “extremely critical and life-threatening,” a police spokesperson said. He was flown by helicopter to a hospital after the crash early Saturday morning.

According to police, the vehicle struck the aircraft’s engine and a passenger boarding staircase. Police and prosecutors are investigating suspected dangerous interference with air traffic.

Possible health impairment under investigation

Investigators are examining whether the driver may have been “health impaired” before the crash. Further inquiries, including an accident-analysis report, are needed to determine the cause.

Police said no other people were at risk at any point. The crash also had no impact on air traffic. Munich Airport has a night-flight ban between midnight and 5 a.m.
