Fire injures two at house in Riedlingsdorf

A fire at a detached house in Riedlingsdorf, in Oberwart district, left two people injured with suspected smoke inhalation on Monday morning, ORF reported.

The fire broke out in the bedroom of the house. The cause is still being investigated.

Two people were inside when the fire started. The woman was able to escape on her own, while the man was in the basement. A firefighter wearing breathing apparatus rescued him. He remained conscious and responsive, according to the Oberwart district fire brigade command.

The operation was still under way, with three fire brigades and nine vehicles at the scene.
