Drunk 19-year-old crashes car near St. Gilgen

A 19-year-old driver with more than two parts per thousand of alcohol in his blood caused a serious crash near St. Gilgen in Salzburg’s Flachgau district, ORF reported. The car overturned several times and came to rest on its roof.
According to the fire brigade, the vehicle skidded near the so-called Franzosenschanze, crossed into the opposite lane and then left the road. The 18-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to Bad Ischl Hospital by the Red Cross. The car was severely damaged.
The driver was not injured. Police conducted a breath alcohol test and confiscated his driving licence. Firefighters from Abersee recovered the vehicle and cleared spilled fuel and other operating fluids.
