Drunk e-scooter rider flees police at up to 63 km/h

A 35-year-old man fled from police on an e-scooter in Stadl-Paura in the Wels-Land district on Saturday evening, ORF reported. He crashed on a bend and was found to have an alcohol reading of 1.26 per mille.

Police officers noticed the man because of his erratic driving and tried to stop him. He accelerated and drove away at high speed.

The rider hit a wire fence on a bend and fell. After receiving medical treatment, he underwent an alcohol test, which recorded 1.26 per mille.

Police later examined the e-scooter and found that it could reach a top speed of 63 kilometres per hour. The man from the Wels-Land district will be reported.
