98-year-old driver dies after car hits tree in Lower Austria

A 98-year-old man from the Mödling district died on Friday afternoon after his car crashed into a tree in Laab im Walde, ORF reported.

According to police, the man was driving on the B13 from Wolfsgraben in the St. Pölten district towards Laab im Walde when he left the road shortly after a left-hand bend for reasons that remain unclear.

He became trapped inside the car and had to be freed by firefighters. Despite immediate rescue efforts, a doctor called to the scene could only confirm his death.
