ORF reports that police in Saalbach, a town in the Pinzgau region, stopped a 44-year-old driver who was taking his children to school while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police became aware of the man after he was reportedly smoking in the car next to the children. Smoking is prohibited in vehicles when passengers under 18 are present. Officers also found that his driving licence had already been revoked in February.

A preliminary alcohol test recorded 1.8 parts per thousand. The driver refused a breathalyser test and will face charges for several offences, police said.
